If you have decided to buy a pair of prescription swimming goggles but don't know where to start, here's our handy guide to help you see clearly again in the pool, sea or spa.
First, use the menu/filters on the website to narrow down the choice of goggles based on:
- Whether you are long or short sighted
- What power lenses you need (email us a copy of your spectacle prescription if you need help with this)
- Whether you need the same or different powers in each eye
- Would you prefer clear, tinted or mirrored lenses (mirrored lenses cut out a little more glare than tinted alone)
To help you make a choice here are some features to consider and goggles that might fit the bill:
-
Great value
The Sutton Swimwear SHARK offers the best value, has a fixed nose bridge and is ready-made with the same powers in both eyes. -
Wide power range
Sutton Swimwear WHALE, GATOR and View SWIPE all have a wide power range (+6.00 to -12.00, +8.00 to -10.00 and +6.00 to -10.00 respectively) – the WHALE is same power in each eye. -
Adjustable nose bridge
Many goggles have an adjustable or interchangeable nose bridge, rather than a fixed moulded one. Two long-standing and highly-rated goggles are the Sutton Swimwear WAVE & View SWIPE, the VIEW also has a slightly deeper eye seal than most. -
Fits more on the brow and cheek bones (than in the socket)
The Sutton Swimwear REEF and Sutton Swimwear SURF both sit more around the socket, rather than in it, for extra comfort. -
Swedish fit
The Swans SR7 has a specialist type of fitting that has NO silicone eye seal for an extra low profile. -
A stylish look
A pair of goggles with a mirrored finish helps cut down glare but also looks extra stylish. Some of the most popular ones are Sutton Swimwear CORAL, Sutton Swimwear SURF, Sutton Swimwear WHALE and Swans SRX.

-
Clear lenses
If you prefer your goggles with clear lenses a variety of models offer this option. -
Sports or racing goggles
We offer several World Aquatics Approved goggles (could be used in competitive swimming), a premium goggle from leading Triathlon brand HUUB and several with lower profiles such as the Sutton Swimwear STINGRAY, Aquasee COMPETITION, Gator COMPETITION and Swans SRX. -
AR tech in the pool
If you like to monitor your swimming times, strokes and activities then the Holoswim Pro VR goggle is ideal, although it has a limited power range. -
Best Sellers
It is always nice to know what others have chosen, so you can sort all the goggles by the Best Selling.
All the goggles and masks have an adjustable head-strap so can be loosened or tightened to fit most swimmers. As a guide we have included an estimate of the unstretched circumference in the Product Information section of each product page under ‘Approximate goggle dimensions’.
If you do have a larger head, then one option is to order a Swans SRX with a spare component kit - this will then allow you to add an extra section to the head-strap.
The nose bridges are again all of similar size (and can be adjusted or exchanged for nose width) but the Sutton Swimwear REEF, Sutton Swimwear SHARK, Sutton Swimwear SURF, Sutton Swimwear WHALE and Swimmi 2 all have a softer moulded nose bridge.
Models like the Sutton Swimwear WAVE, Speedo MARINER, Speedo HYDROPURE, Swans SRX and EAGLE all come with little or no case and most others just have a clear plastic one, so you might like to consider adding:
- Sutton Swimwear PREMIUM case - a tough, flexible, soft lined case
- Sutton Swimwear SLIP IN pouch – a light microfibre bag
While most goggles have an anti-fog layer, we also recommend purchasing the anti-fog solution (RRP £6.50) to prevent the lenses fogging during use.
We are always happy to exchange or refund any goggles that are not worn in water. So please try on your new goggles/mask BEFORE use as once they have been used in the water, we can NO LONGER refund/replace (see our FITTING GUIDE). If you are unhappy with the fit, or have ordered the wrong power, please contact us to arrange a refund/replacement. All you will need to pay for is the return postage.
If you need to return them, keep all the packaging etc. (including the protective stickers on the goggle lenses) as all this will need to be returned if you send them back for a refund.
